Floral Hill

In the Fall of 2010, this project was completed on a steeply-sloped site adjacent to Hendricks Park in Eugene.  The clients were seeking to expand their usable space and increase the sense of privacy on their property.  Working with them through a design, and building with her contractor, I created a pair of rounded platforms to take advantage of the spectacular view from the hill behind their home.

Rough-cut WallThe low wall leading up to the first patio was faced with rough-cut boards salvaged from nearby Hendricks Park.

Lower PatioAnd as always, the plants really make the landscape come alive.  Using several natives as a backdrop, and making use of enclosing evergreen shrubs, this section of the yard will be developed into a meandering floral walk between the two spaces, featuring the homeowner’s heirloom rhododendrons.

    Hi Ethan,

    Bravo!

Love to see a photo when it’s all done, growing and in full bloom. You and Lanara did a great job designing all of this!

    Peace & Light,

    David
